Rylee
CH Cobblestone’s Who’s in the Creek

There were several things that impressed me when I was looking at Rylee’s litter of puppies. One, back then the breeder’s 16-month-old Irish setter dog was observed, and I had not seen too many young Irish setters put together like he was, either with Mrs. Crawford or anywhere since. He shared the same mother as the litter I was looking-over. His sister was in a nearby paddock area, and I watched her move for a while, she was athletic, quick, and fast, and that made an impression on me. I liked the overall balance of the dogs, structure, and their personalities. After watching the puppies move around for a while, I picked out a puppy bred by Diane Carl & Laura Edwards-Johnson out of CH Triskelion What’s Your Point and CH Rosette’s Devil in a Blue Dress. I was excited to have another Irish setter.

In the show ring Rylee won best puppy at both the Ohio and Michigan Specialties (2009), in 2010 he won a Sweepstakes event sponsored by the Detroit Kennel Club and his 15–18-month Sweepstakes class at the Nationals. He finished with four majors, including a Specialty win at Ohio which meant a lot to me at the time because the event was dedicated to Mrs. Betty Crawford and my mentor.

On the Farm, Rylee has been a great companion dog, is well-balanced and athletic. He can be formidable at times. One evening, I turned toward a commotion, then started to hustle and he fan past me. I was surprised and impressed as he was in the paddock behind me and first scaled a 54” high fence which he had never done previously, before racing past me to the chicken coop and killing a large male raccoon in a few seconds. Over the years, Rylee has been my tracking buddy along the creek in our woods where both of us play.
