Jackson
GCH Evergreen Fashion Statesman
We were fortunate to acquire another Irish setter. After watching conformation dogs for a few years, I was attracted to a couple of Mary Marlo’s young dogs enough to inquire about her upcoming litters. Evergreen was of interest to me because the odds were good that I could get a different type of a dog chassis to observe and study. Mentored in tracking by Tom Brown, Jr., I am outside active. Watching dogs gaits and their associated tracks is part of the tracking classroom. Rylee’s chassis is very well-balanced and like Major’s in many ways, but I was starting to see and read about the benefits of an improved front shoulder assembly and was hopeful to field test something slightly different than both Major and Rylee. Jackson has provided a few nuances that have helped me appreciate the attributes of a good front shoulder/upper arm assembly. Mary Merlo is a good teacher, and I am appreciative of her helping me understand the front half of an Irish in a more contemporary way than I was used to.
Jackson is out of CH Evergreen Design of Choice (Bruce) and GCH Pin Oak Castlebar Success (Sabrina). He won Open Dog Class at the 2013 Nationals and finished with four Specialty majors, winning in WI, MN, and MI (2). Jackson had a short timeline to his grand championship. As a pet, he is wonderful and like his father Bruce, a gentleman. He can be sneaky and usually waits until his playmates initiate a distraction, then he slips off to mischief.
